FEASTS OF THE WEEK

Thursday 20: The Irish Martyrs. 17 Irish martyrs, men and women, cleric and lay, put to death for the Catholic faith between 1579 and 1654 were beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1992.

Friday 21: St Aloysius Gonzaga, religious. He was born in Lombardy in 1568, joined the Jesuits in Rome. As a novice he worked in the plague hospital and caught the fever, dying in 1591 aged 23.  Patron of youth.


FORTY HOURS ADORATION

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in St Mary’s Church Coolcalm will be on today, Sunday 16 and tomorrow Monday 17 June. Forty Hours will start after 10.00 am Mass each day and conclude on both evenings with Benediction at 7.30 pm.

SUMMER DRAW 2024

The Annual Summer Draw is upon us and this year the need for us all to make a huge effort to get as many to take part cannot be exaggerated. The work in St Eugene's Church, Moneyneena is progressing well and we are hoping that the Summer Draw will be a great success. We rely on every parishioner to take tickets into their work place and to distribute them among family members who live outside the parish. 

The total prize fund is £8,000 and the Draw will be held each Saturday from 13 July until Saturday August 10.  Winners will be announced each Saturday at the 6.00 p.m. Vigil Mass in Holy Rosary Church.

Week 1: 1st Prize £1,000, 2nd Prize £200, 3rd Prize £100.

Week 2: 1st Prize £1,000, 2nd Prize £200, 3rd Prize £100.

Week 3: 1st Prize £1,000, 2nd Prize £200, 3rd Prize £100.

Week 4: 1st Prize £1,000, 2nd Prize £200, 3rd Prize £100.

Week 5: 1st Prize £2,000, 2nd Prize £500, 3rd Prize £300.

TRADITIONAL MUSIC FUNDRAISING EVENT

Irish Traditional music session in An Ráth Dubh on Saturday 15 June. Junior session from 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm. Senior Session 8.30 pm to late. Admission £10.  All proceeds from this event are in aid of renovation work on St Eugene's Church Moneyneena. All welcome. 


BALLINASCREEN SVP

Ballinascreen SVP have introduced a ‘'Tap to Donate' contactless card machine as an additional method to donate towards parish families in need.  An SVP member will be available with the card machine after selected Masses. Ballinascreen SVP thank you for your continued support.


WARM WELCOME WEDNESDAY LUNCHEON CLUB

Final lunch before the summer break takes place on Wednesday 19 June, offering a FREE lunch for over 60s and the chance to meet and chat to others. This event will be held in Workspace Community Hub from 11.00 am to 1.30 pm. Food will be served about 12.15pm.  Places limited so booking is essential.  To confirm your place, please contact Workspace on 028 7962 8113 by 12 noon on Monday 17 June.


ST EUGENE’S CHURCH

Fr Madden is grateful for the donations already received towards the renovation work on St Eugene’s Church. Further donations gratefully accepted.

DRAPERSTOWN HEALTH MATTERS PROJECT

The last session of this project will be held on Wednesday 26 June in Workspace Community Hub from 11.00 am. To mark Deaf Blind Awareness Week, a representative from Deafblind UK will be giving a talk at 11.30 am and O’Kane’s Pharmacy will be carrying out ear checks.   Everyone welcome, no booking required.  Refreshments served.


DIOCESE OF DERRY THREE-DAY PILGRIMAGE TO LOUGH DERG

Pilgrimage will be led by Bishop Donal McKeown from Friday 26 July to Sunday, 28 July.  A bus will leave from St Eugene's Cathedral Derry, on Friday 26 at 11.00 am. Cost £80 includes transport. The cost for those making their own way to Lough Derg is £70.  Pre-booking required for those travelling by bus.

The Lough Derg Pilgrimage provides a kind of breathing space in which people can calmly explore and reflect on where they find themselves in their lives at that moment in time.

PARISH ANNIVERSARY AND MONTH’S MIND MASSES

If you wish to have a deceased loved one prayed for at any Anniversary Friday Mass, you MUST please email their name to Ballinascreen Parish Office by noon on Thursday of the relevant week. Notices for First Anniversary and Month's Mind Masses should be received before the Wednesday of the previous week so that they may be printed in the Bulletin the weekend before the Anniversary Mass
