DERRY DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK

Bishop McKeown will lead the Diocesan Pilgrimage next Saturday 28 September. Mass with Anointing of the Sick will take place at 3.00 pm in the main Basilica, accompanied by the Long Tower Parish Folk Group. 


CONFIRMATION 2025

Ballinascreen Confirmation will be celebrated in Holy Rosary Church on Sunday 2 March at 2.00 pm.  

Desertmartin Confirmation will be celebrated in St Patrick’s Church, Keenaught on Sunday 2 March at

10.00 am. 

Bishop Donal McKeown will preside at both Confirmation ceremonies.


SEASON OF CREATION

This year’s theme is: ‘The first fruits of hope’. A quotation from Pope Francis (Laudato SI, 14) - “I wish to address every person living on this planet… I urgently appeal for a new dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet. We need a conversation which includes everyone, since the environment challenge we are undergoing, and its human roots concern and affects us all”

The current Season of Creation continues until Friday October 4.


TRÓCAIRE

Trócaire is looking for people to join their team of Christmas fundraisers to help respond to the urgent need of poor communities around the world, including the millions of children and families caught in conflict in Sudan and Gaza. You can take action and make a difference through a range of activities, including the promotion of their Gifts of Change – training and support will be provided.

WARM WELCOME WEDNESDAYS

Monthly Luncheon Club; offering a FREE lunch for over 60s and the chance to meet and chat to others, recommences on Wednesday 25 September in Workspace Community Hub.  Mid Ulster Agewell, who support people aged 50 and over in the Mid Ulster District Council area will be present from 11.30 am.  Food will be served at 12.15 pm.  Places limited so booking is essential.  To book, please contact Workspace on 02879628113 by 12 noon Monday 23 September. 


BALLINASCREEN GAC WELLBEING EVENT FOR MEN

Nóra Murray along with other speakers will be hosting an evening on Saturday 19 October at 7.00 pm sharp in the Club for all men over 18 on mental health and wellbeing.  This event is open to the whole community and beyond. It will give you the opportunity to listen to those with lived experiences, an opportunity to ask questions as well as becoming more equipped with how to deal with your own mental health and others.  Benny Heron and Eamon Burns are two of the many men onboard.  Let's make a difference and reduce the stigma! DIAMOND PAINTING

Beginners’ sessions on Tuesdays in Workspace Community Hub from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm.  Diamond painting is a new art hobby which involves applying multi-coloured rhinestones on a canvas to produce a shimmering picture. If you’re interested in learning more just call in to one of the sessions. Booking not required.


BALLINASCREEN TRADITIONAL MUSIC GROUP

Registration for music classes on next Tuesday 24 September in St Colm’s High School from 7.00 pm to 7.45 pm.  Classes start on Tuesday 1 October from 7.00 pm to 7.45 pm. Classes are available in Fiddle, Tin Whistle, Bodhran, Guitar, Beginner Concertina, Adult Bodhran, Harp. Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced classes are available except for those classes mentioned above. More expensive instruments may be hired for a monthly fee. DRUMALIS CENTRE ~ COURSE

Pathways Adult Faith Development Programme begins in Drumalis on 12 October, and runs for one Saturday a month from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, from October to June. All welcome. CHARITY CLIMB

SIXTOWNS BOWLING CLUB

Bowls on every Mondays at 8.00 pm in Sixtowns Cross Community Centre. Beginners welcome.


KILCRONAGHAN CENTRE

Annual Vintage Rally, Craft Fair and Family Fun Day, on next Saturday 28 September from 11.00 am.    

New free attraction – Mobile Petting Farm.  Family Health Van will take appointments on the day.


MAGHERA LEGION OF MARY

PARISH ANNIVERSARY AND MONTH’S MIND MASSES

If you wish to have a deceased loved one prayed for at any Anniversary Friday Mass, you MUST please email their name to Ballinascreen Parish Office by noon on Thursday of the relevant week. Notices for First Anniversary and Month's Mind Masses should be received before the Wednesday of the previous week so that they may be printed in the Bulletin the weekend before the Anniversary Mass.


DESERTMARTIN PARISH FIRST ANNIVERSARY & MONTHS MINDS

In order to facilitate families and the larger numbers who attend Months Mind and First Anniversary Masses and who cannot attend Mass in St Mary's Church Coolcalm on a Friday morning, from now on such Masses in Desertmartin Parish may be celebrated on a Saturday evening, if requested, at 7.30 pm in St Patrick’s Church Keenaught. All other Anniversary Masses will continue to be celebrated at the Friday Masses as usual.
