CEMETERY SUNDAY 2018

The annual Service of Intercession for the Dead, with the Blessing of Graves, will take place this Sunday afternoon in Ballinascreen as follows:

  • STRAW 2.00 pm

  • SIXTOWNS 3.30 pm

  • MONEYNEENA 4.30 pm

Please gather at your family grave before the Ceremony begins.

Please bring a small container of water (ONE for each grave) to the Ceremony. This water will be blessed by the priests during the Ceremony.A member of each family will be invited to sprinkle holy water on their family grave after the prayers of blessing over all the graves have been recited by the priest. The holy water sprinkled on the family grave is a symbolic reminder of the Sacrament of Baptism through which our departed brothers and sisters were united with Christ in his death.

Today we pray that all our deceased parishioners, priests, relatives and friends will now share in the resurrection of Christ in heaven.

At each Ceremony we will also remember by name all those parishioners who were buried in Ballinascreen since Cemetery Sunday last year.

MAY THEY REST IN PEACE

A gate collection will be taken up at the end of each ceremony to help with the upkeep of the graveyards. Please use the white envelope (at the back of each box of envelopes) marked Special 1 for this collection. Thank you.

SUMMER MASS TIMES

As it gets increasingly difficult to find priests to cover Masses when one of the priests of the parish is away, the following changes are being made to Mass times in Ballinascreen and Desertmartin Parishes.

Begining on Saturday 30 June there will be no Saturday Vigil Mass in Moneyneena at 7.30 pm. In Keenaught the Saturday Vigil Mass will be at the new time of 7.30 pm. On Sunday mornings there will be no 11.30 am Mass in Keenaught. This new arrangement will be reviewed at the end of the summer months.
