FEASTS OF THE WEEK

Monday 10: The Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church.

Tuesday 11: St Barnabas. He was one of the first converts in Jerusalem and accompanied St Paul on his first missionary journey.

Thursday 13: St Anthony of Padua. Franciscan priest and Doctor of the Church. He was born in Portugal and died in Padua in 1231 aged 36.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Adoration in Holy Rosary Church on Monday June 10 commences after 10.00 am Mass and continues until 7.25 pm.

VISITATION OF SICK AND HOUSEBOUND

Fr Madden will next visit the sick of the parish on the following days:

Those visited by Fr Downey will be attended by Fr Madden on Monday 24 June, Tuesday 25 June and Wednesday 26 June.

Fr Madden will tend the sick of his own area the following week on Monday July 1, Tuesday July 2 and Wednesday July 3.

Fr McGirr will continue to tend to those resident in Ballinascreen Fold

CEMETERY SUNDAY 2019

Annual Blessing of the Graves will take place next Sunday 16 June at the following times:

  • STRAW 2.00 pm

  • SIXTOWNS 3.30 pm

  • MONEYNEENA 4.30 pm.

Please gather at your family grave before the Ceremony begins. Please bring a small container of water (ONE for each grave) to the Ceremony. This water will be blessed by the priests during the Ceremony.

A member of each family will be invited to sprinkle holy water on the grave after the prayers of blessing over all the graves have been recited by the priests.

At each Ceremony we will also remember by name all those parishioners who were buried in Ballinascreen since Cemetery Sunday last year.

A gate collection will be taken up, at the end of each ceremony to help with the upkeep of the graveyards.

Please use the white envelope (at the back of each box of envelopes) marked Special Collection No 1 for this collection.

PIONEER MASS

Following the large number of requests for Silver, Gold and Diamond Jubilee Pins there will be a Mass of Presentation in St Eugene's Church, Moneyneena on Wednesday June 26 at 7.30 pm.

At this Mass pupils who received the Sacrament of Confirmation this year will be invited to take their Confirmation Pledge. If anyone from Year 8 has not yet taken their Confirmation Pledge, they may do so at this Mass as well.

If anyone is entitled to a silver, gold or diamond pin and has not yet informed the Parish Office please do so on or before Tuesday June 11. Please leave your contact details and the type of pin you are entitled to.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES

The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place from July 4 – July 9. In preparation for the pilgrimage all pilgrims and their families are welcome to Mass on Tuesday 25 June at 7.30 pm in Our Lady of Lourdes Steelstown, Derry.

Tickets will be distributed to pilgrims after the Mass.

We ask for everyone in the diocese to pray for the success of the pilgrimage.

PARISH ANNIVERSARY MASS

The Friday 7.30 pm Mass in St Columba’s Straw is offered as an anniversary Mass for deceased parishioners. If you wish to have your loved one prayed for at this Mass you MUST give their name to the Parish Office by Thursday of the relevant week.

NOTICE TO SPECIALIST ROOFING CONTRACTORS

Numerous inspections have been carried out on the condition of the existing roof covering of the Holy Rosary Church.

Over the past number of years the roof membrane has been repaired in numerous places. The ingress of damp is now visible in various areas on the internal ceiling. In order to eradicate continuing ingress of damp and the now high risk of the main structural timbers being damaged, we now propose to replace the existing membrane with a new material and also use the opportunity to increase the Thermal quality of the roof by also including insulation .
