MATT TALBOT PRAYER SOCIETY
Praying for those suffering from Addiction
On Friday, the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, St Eugene’s Cathedral launched the Matt Talbot Prayer Society. This Prayer Society has been created to pray for people who are suffering from any form of addiction, to pray for those recovering from addiction, and to pray for all those affected by addiction, especially family members. As we know addiction takes many forms from alcohol, drugs, gambling, pornography, to other less acknowledged addictions.
To join the Matt Talbot Prayer Society, you are invited to enrol the name of the person to be prayed for and the addiction from which we are praying that they will be freed.
Those enrolled will be prayed for specifically every day by members of the Matt Talbot Prayer Society.
Mass will be offered for those enrolled on the first Monday of every month in St Eugene’s Cathedral, Derry, at 7.30 pm.
You will also receive an enrolment card to enable you to join in the prayer. To enrol someone in the Matt Talbot Prayer Society please phone St Eugene’s Cathedral 71262894 or email steugenes@btconnect.com or private message St Eugene’s Cathedral Facebook page.
ST JOSEPH’S YOUNG PRIESTS’ SOCIETY (SJYPS) KNOCK PILGRIMAGE
Annual Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine will be a Virtual pilgrimage on Sunday 28 June. It will include Holy Rosary at 2.30 pm, Holy Mass at 3.00 pm followed by Benediction. The ceremonies will be streamed live on the Knock website www.knockshrine.ie
- SJYPS ~ 125th ANNIVERSARY
This year, the Society celebrates its 125th Anniversary of its founding by Olivia Mary Taaffe in 1895.
The Society has recently launched a new website: www.stjosephsyoungpriestssociety.ie
Since 1895, the Society has assisted the education of thousands of men to the Priesthood. For example over the last 10 years through the generosity of members and benefactors it has assisted, both prayerfully and financially, 1,449 ordinations to priesthood globally.
Prayers for vocations to the priesthood and Religious Life have never been more necessary so members and benefactors are asked to keep up their efforts in this regard.
Bishop McKeown wishes to congratulate the faithful members of SJYP, past and present, on their 125th Anniversary and acknowledges the ongoing good work of the SJYP members in parishes across the country and in our own diocese. Their steady, prayerful and financial support is invaluable to the diocese.

DO LOUGH DERG FROM WHEREVER YOU ARE
During the month of June, Lough Derg is offering an opportunity to have an experience of retreat and pilgrimage from wherever you are.
From Saturday 27 – Monday 29 June people can do the Three Day Pilgrimage from afar, along with the Prior and the Lough Derg team.
Please, be clear that this will not be a virtual pilgrimage.
It will entail the full exercises of the traditional Three Day Pilgrimage: the 24 hour vigil that has always been the heart of the matter, the three day fast, and the nine Station Prayers performed in bare feet..
A few practical adjustments include Evening Prayer of the Church will be recited instead of evening Mass on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
Mass will be celebrated at 6.30 am on Sunday morning only.
On Saturday 27 to Monday 29 June you may join the pilgrimage online at www.loughderg.live
By way of support, Registration Packs have been prepared. To register for free please go to https://loughderg.live/june-3-day-pilgrimage-registration/ or phone 00353 719861518.
From Tuesday 30 June, those who have undertaken the pilgrimage should please email info@loughderg.org or phone 00353 719861518 to confirm that they have completed it conscientiously and give a full postal address, so they can be issued with a memento of this historic occasion.

PRAYER TO ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST
Oh God, you gave St. Elizabeth, in her old age, the gift of a son, St. John the Baptist, who would prepare the way for Jesus to begin His ministry here on earth.
Lord, Fill your people with the joy of possessing graces like those of Saint John the Baptist, and direct the minds of all us in the way of salvation and peace.
St. John was martyred for truth and justice, so may we Dear God, energetically profess our faith in You, and help us to lead others to Your Way, Your Truth, and Your Eternal Life.
Amen.
POPE FRANCIS @PONTIFEX
The Lord always watches over us with mercy. Let us not be afraid of approaching him! He has a merciful heart! If we show him our inner wounds, our inner sins, he will always forgive us. It is pure mercy! Let us go to Jesus!
PRAYERS FOR OUR PROTECTION
The Irish Catholic Bishops have asked for prayers for those affected by the Coronavirus. Placing all our trust in the Lord, and asking Our Lady to intercede for us, the bishops invite everyone to pray these prayers:
EXTRACT FROM SAINT PATRICK’S BREASTPLATE
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.
MEMORARE
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to you,
O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer. Amen.
