SUGGESTIONS FOR LENT
Create a Prayer Space in our homes with a Crucifix or the image of Christ Crucified at the centre and that we remember each day all those who carry heavy burdens at this time.
Further ideas on how to create such a space are to be found on this link: https://www.derrydiocese.org/news/categories/lent-2021
This link will also provide you with many other worthwhile resources for a prayerful and meaningful Lent.
As it is not possible to safely distribute Trócaire Boxes at this time to everyone, we ask that you create your own Trocaire Box or Jar and place it somewhere for all to see as a reminder of daily blessing and the need to give to those much less fortunate than ourselves.

DIOCESE OF DERRY - PRAYER FOR LENT 2021
Loving Father,
To prepare for His mission of proclaiming Your kingdom to the world
Your Son Jesus was guided by
Your Holy Spirit to the quiet of the desert.
In these Lenten days,
I pray that I will be guided by that same Spirit,
to a place of renewal in my heart and mind, so that I will seek opportunities for daily personal prayer, personal sacrifices and acts of kindness.
With Your help,
may I too be truly prepared to share in the story of the passion, death and resurrection of
Jesus Your Son, our Lord.
Amen.
PRAYERS FOR OUR PROTECTION
The Irish Catholic Bishops have asked for prayers for those affected by the Coronavirus. Placing all our trust in the Lord, and asking Our Lady to intercede for us, the bishops invite everyone to pray these prayers:
EXTRACT FROM SAINT PATRICK’S BREASTPLATE
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.
MEMORARE
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to you,
O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer. Amen
